Goverment Plans for New Towns, Yeovil in the Shortlist to create a new ECO-Town

Have just been looking at the BBC new page, the government are looking at creating "New Towns".

Yeovil was mentioned in the short-list! The Times on line also mentioned the government plans!

I will try and find out more, do you know anything about these "New ECO Towns"?

  1. Well spotted Tim! The Yeovil development isn't new housing - there's already a 5000-home 'urban extension' allocated to us as part of the housing strategy up to 2026, but the Council going for an eco-town level of environmental impact is new. Good news I think, if the housing is coming here anyway.

  2. District Council this morning - the short list is for possible bidders for Govt funding into feasibility studies for eco towns (i.e. an upgrade to a higher green standard for new homes), so it's several stages removed from a concrete (no pun intended!) plan.
